I was walking Stella around the neighborhood on a Friday evening & happened upon a yard sale.
The family had a series of garage doors open in an apartment building & everything was for sale.
I immediately found a few framed prints that I was interested in & this signed print by Charley Harper just happened to be in the mix.
I actually couldn't read the signature & the frame was cracked at the bottom...but I thought it was neat and the price was right, so I decided to take a chance. I'm not going to lie, it also reminded me of the "Tiger Blood" Charlie Sheen's been yapping about too! Lol. Thankfully, I linked up the Apron Thrift Girls Thrift Share Monday post & a few wonderful folks identified the artist for me.
After doing a little research, I discovered that this is a signed serigraph by Charley Harper titled "Cool Carnivore" and it was released in 1979. Mine is # 597/2000.
I love the graphic feel of the image & think Charley Harper is amazing...but the image will probably make its way into my Etsy Shop soon.
"A cat in the water? The Bengal tiger likes it and you would too if you had to wear a fur coat in the steamy jungle. But when your coat is a status symbol, many would help you off with it. One maharajah helped 1150 tigers off with their coats. Others, to remain competitive, included cubs and fetuses in their tallies. In this century, hunting and habitat destruction have dramatically decreased the Bengal count. Keep cool, big Bengal-and beware of man, the ominous omnivore." - Charley Harper
