Thrift Share - Little Teapots & Bright Flowers

I had a beautiful Spring weekend with friends here in SoCal & hope you had a beautiful weekend in your part of the world too!  I had an opportunity to do a little thrifting over the past week, and here's a taste of a few things that made it home with me!
Don't these 2 Arabia of Finland pots make a cute Pair? I can't decide if they are 2 sizes of teapots or a coffee pot & a tea pot.  What do you think?
As if the 2 Arabia pots weren't enough, I also brought home this Thomas Germany pot too!  I think it has the most wonderful lines, so simple yet beautiful.
I made my first Pyrex purchase this past week.  I see Pyrex all of the time, but usually pass it by.  But this time I just couldn't resist the bright spring colors and wonderful condition of the set.
I believe this vintage carrying case is probably a wine carrier, though it could probably be used for carrying or storing just about anything.  I'm guessing it's from the 70s, and think it's so charming!
Speaking of charming, I probably paid a little more than I should have for this adorable set of hand painted floral plaques.  I just love the brightly painted flowers, and think they are expertly done.  I love to photograph beautiful blooms, and wish I could paint them this well too.  These weren't the only bright art flowers I found, check out this fun crewel art too!
Also, not my typical style...but it was just too cute to leave behind.

Most of these goodies will be up in the shop in the next few weeks.  I'm holding a big 25% Off Spring Sale through next weekend so stop by and check out whats new to you at NowSoLA Vintage!

I'm also linking up to ATG's Thrift Share Monday & HLA's Flea Market Finds, so I can't wait to see what wonderful finds you came home with too!

Thrift Share - Going Global

Holiday Cheers...Christmas is almost here!
(I've added lots of linky links on this weeks post so be sure to click &
check out the background & details on some of my finds)
This is our Baby Tree in the living room with my favorite Thrifted Vintage Ornaments.
I was afraid our bad dog Lucy would eat the big tree if I put it up!
(Notice my mid century chair has yet to be reupholstered! lol.)

I'm excited for Christmas this year because I'm preparing for a trip to KY to see my family (and my Mommy..YIPEE)!!!  It's been over 3 years since I've been home for the holidays and I can't wait!
Unfortunately, I haven't even started shopping yet due to all kinds of craziness at work,
but I have managed to stop at a few thrift shops recently and look at some of the goodies I've found.
It's funny how themes develop.  I've always enjoyed having a vintage globe or 2 sitting around the house, but in the last few weeks I've amassed several more for my collection.
This one is my favorite however, because it lights up and makes a rather beautiful statement at night!  It's a Readers Digest globe from the 1980s and is in excellent condition.
I'm always buying art and really need to get the Thrift Art obsession under control...but I just couldn't pass up this lovely lithograph by LosAngeles/Mexican Folk Artist Esau Andrade.  It's large (18X24) and nicely framed and for only $5 at the Goodwill it was certainly a steal.
I suppose part of Frank Del Olmo's estate was certainly my treasure!
Can't wait to see what goodies your sharing this week too, so I'll be linking up to Sophie's Flea Market Finds and Selena's Thrift Share Monday!

Thrift Share - Picture Book

I always find it hard to believe that people can just throw away (or sell) books of family memories. What is it about old photos albums and scrapbooks that seems so special? When I came across this overflowing book of ephemera last weekend at a yard sale I just couldn't resist.
It includes maps and pictures of a well traveled family dating between the 1920s-1970s.
There are also old UCLA football game tickets and money from overseas.  It seems as if the "Man of the Family" was an executive for JC Penny for many years and attended many events in the LA Metro area.  Check out this old poster from the 1960s of the Bradbury Building in Downtown LA, so cool!
It makes me a little sad to think of all the digital photography now, and how future generations will only leave behind hard drives full of memories instead of old books of black and white pictures.

Paper seemed to be my theme last week as I thrifted.  In addition to the amazing album, I also walked away with a set of 9 cool vintage Christmas cards and some 70s wrapping papers.
Last but not least, in sticking with my paper theme...I came across this set of vintage Paper Cuts.  They seem as if they were sold as a tourist item, and are labeled on the back though I can't make out the wording.  I just adore the simple shapes and sweet animals.  Anyone able to decipher this writing?
Possibly "Produkoia Regzha"?
Once again, I can't wait to see what other great treasures were unearthed this week, so I'll be linking up to the parties over at Selena's & Sophie's!

Art-full Week

If last weeks Thrift Share Monday post was full of books, this week was full of Art!
Not only did we attend the LA Art Show this weekend (loved it!!!), I also brought home
some cool Thrifted pieces to add to my Thrift Art Collection!

These two beautiful watercolor paintings caught my eye and were signed Eren Alpketin.
I picked them up at the American Veterans Thrift Store a few miles down the street where I just happened to stop by Friday night on my way home from work.
After getting home & googling the artist, I realized that she was represented by galleries in Laguna Beach.
These two paintings are listed on her website and titled "Colorado River" and "San Antonio".
I just love them!
Colorado River
San Antonio
I've already placed this beauty above the mantle in our living room,
and I'm pretty sure that's where it will stay for a bit!
At the same shop I also picked up a framed print by Nathaniel Bustion titled "Dogan Mask".
I haven't gotten around to photoing it yet but this is the image.
All 3 of these amazing pieces of art cost me under $100.00.  A little more than my normal spending,
but I thought in tin this case I just couldn't resist.
While I'll probably be keeping the art, I did pick up a few things for the shop this week too.

These adorable Drunken Fruit canisters by Nancy Lynn are all little works of art on their own.
They would be perfect for a retro kitchen and are seriously cute as pie.
These two vintage fabrics were also from this week & this red & blue screen print cotton
by Kauffman Fabrics reminds me of a Monet.
SOLD
Look for these items to be listed in my Etsy shop soon, and
check out some of the Designer Thrift finds from earlier this week that I posted on Thrift Collective.
Hope you enjoyed my Thrift Share Monday post & check out lots of other great finds through the links on Apron Thrift Girl!

Thrifted Christmas

I love to decorate for the Holidays...and almost all of my decor was Thrifted!

I was shopping in New Port Richey, FL one afternoon many years ago when I happened upon this collection of beautiful Christmas ornaments.  They are so delicate and each is very unique.  I bought every one I could find in the shop!

They hang perfectly on my Thrifted White Tree.

Don't get me wrong, I love a real tree.  I never thought I would own a fake one, but last year I had a change of heart.  The Target stores in our area donate unused merchandise to Goodwill.  Last season I hit a few of the Goodwill stores and acquired a collection of very nice trees.  The white one in our living room retailed for $299.00 originally and I paid $39.99 brand new in box.  It stands 8" tall and is pre-lit,  it's awesome!

The 2nd tree we have in the den is also fantastic!  It's much larger and stands at 9" and retailed for $349.00 originally and I only paid $49.99.  It also was brand new in box.
This tree is decorated with family ornaments, as well as one's we pick up when were traveling to a new place.  I hold's so many special memories!

My favorite holiday Thrift find however, has to be our Nativity Set.  I also purchased it in Florida many years ago, and it remains the centerpiece of our Christmas Decor.

Sure hope you enjoyed visiting our home this Christmas & I send the warmest wished to you this holiday season.

CHEERS!
