Mystery Solved

I've had this beautiful lithograph for at least 5 years.  I picked it up at a thrift in Florida, and it has hung in several places in both of our homes throughout the years.  Most recently however, it's been hiding in a closet.  Until today, I never knew the artist...but I always knew it was really cool.  It's numbered 116/260, and the signature has been sending me on wild goose chases since the day I got it!
I searched for Pluar, Sluar, Plurr...and many more combinations.  Then today, out of nowhere I found THIS listing for a Sunal Alvar serigraph on Shopgoodwill.com and I was like BAM!!! THATS IT!!!
Woo Hoo, mystery solved!!!
Sunal Alvar is a highly recognized Spanish artist whose work has been exhibited and collected throughout the world.  His original paintings and lithographs can bring a pretty price, and I'm so excited to have finally put a name to the amazing piece I've been carrying around for years.

Thrift Share - Stocking Up for the Holidays

I've been searching for new merchandise to add to the shop for the holidays, in addition to redecorating the house.  I've also started to expand my selling venues and have listed some items on eBay & Craigslist.  Heres a little of what I've found the past few weeks!

1st up, a little assortment of goodies.
L to R: A pair of Mid Century lamps, Vintage Peacock Purse, Gray "Mio" Tray by Marianne Nilson, Miners Rooms in Minerature, Mikasa Serving Piece Set, Catherine Holm Bowl & Italy Planter Pot

I'm in love with the Rooms in Miniature 1960s "Doll House" furniture. Every time I open the box I find another surprise.  The box says the set only contains the dining room set, but I believe the whole house is in this box as there are pieces already built from every room.

In addition to the goodies above, I've found some great vintage clothing and accessories.
The thrift down the street sells scarves by the bag, it's a crapshoot but sometimes there are some great items in the bunch.  Luck was on my side this time with Vintage Vera, Chanel, Calvin Kline & Echo.
L to R: Vera Red White & Blue, Vera Blue & White, Vera 2 Tone Blue, Chanel on Mannequin, Echo Green Strip & Large view of Red & Gold Chanel

Check out these great holiday dresses!
L to R: 2 Piece Black Lace Dress, 1950's Black & Gold Embroidery Dress, 1970s Gold Sleeveless Dress, 1980s Navy off the shoulder Sequins Dress by A.J. Bari
Last but not least, some great linens!  This set of 4 Vera napkins would be perfect for the holidays, but are so versatile that you could use them any season.
I snagged 2 of these cozy Hudson Bay 4 point Wool blankets, they have some moth holes which is a bummer...

but the 2 of these amazing Vintage Faalberg of Holland wool blankets are perfect!!! 1 has already sold on ebay & the other listing will be up tonight!
Well, that's a rundown of what I've found! Can't wait to check out all of the other goodies you've uncovered so I'll be linking up with Apron Thrift Girl, A Living Space, and Sir Thrift A Lot!

Oooh Tocoma!!

Last week I tweeted about these chairs on Shopgoodwill.com.  They were for sale out of a Tacoma GW and listed as Danish Modern Wooden Chair. Unfortunately they were restricted to Local Pickup Only.
I'm almost positive there was a 2nd listing for another chair and a 3rd for an ottoman.
The auction ended at $21.00. Can you believe that? $21!!!  I knew the chairs were special, but I didn't take the time to do any research on them.

Then today I came across this listing on Etsy in the shop of JB Hoffman.

Knockouts huh?!?!
Beautifully restored & priced at $2,100.00!
Oh woe is me.  If only I could've gotten them from Tocoma.
My search for the perfect chairs or perfect fabric (to build my perfect chairs) continues.

Thrift Share - Getting Dished

If this weeks thrifting finds had a theme, it would definitely be Dishes.  I try not to bring home too many glass items since they are heavy to ship & harder to store...but I broke my norm and here's a bit of what I found!
I just loved the retro pattern on these Mikasa Super Star plates.  They are already up in the shop.
These Russel Wright pieces are from the Oneida line, so newer and not as collectible...but I just adore the stacking cream & sugar bowl along with the mugs.  I think I'll keep these for my own delight.
Speaking of adding to my own collection, I picked up this beautiful set of Flintridge of CA china plates.  I blogged about them over at The Thrift Collective this week since I was so excited about how beautiful they look with my existing china.
How fun is this Mikasa Provencal Coffee Pot?  The Cobalt Blue and white really pop & the modern shape and design makes it a timeless classic.  It's already listed in the shop.
This set of 4 glasses from Luminarc are so on Cue! Lol.  I wish we had a game room to use them in.  They were made in France and are heavy glass tumblers just longing for a cocktail! They'll be up in the shop soon.
A week or so ago, I was reading the wonderful blog of Mid2Mod and was reminded of the wonderful Krenit bowls by Herbert Krenchel .  I'd longed to find one of these bowls in the wild for a long time now, so imagine my surprise when I found not 1, BUT 2 bowls this week!  The Yellow one came first then the blue at a different store.  They make a lovely statement don't you think?  Best part, I spent a total of $5 for  both of them!  WooHoo!  These beauties are staying in my collection for a while!

So, thats the Dish on my finds this week.  I also picked up quite a few lovely dresses and fabrics for the shop that I look forward to sharing with you soon.  Until then, I'll be linking up to the thrift share parties so be sure to check out all of the other treasures over at ATG's Thrift Share Monday & HLA's Flea Market Finds!

Thrift Share - Wonderfully Wooden

Instead of getting out and visiting some sales this morning, I'm being lazy and parked on the couch.  I'm feeling more motivated though, so after this post maybe I'll go find some goodies to share next week!
I picked up this wonderful wooden ice bucket a few weeks ago.
It was Handcrafted in Haiti by David Auld.  Though I don't know much about the Artist,
its a lovely piece and I love the design.
This cute little bird isn't marked, but his wire legs and wooden body are so sweet.  He'll make a great accent for many of my photo shoots, so I think he'll get to hang around for a bit!
I'm not quite sure but I think this wooden container is some sort of bottle holder.  I've not seen one of these before, and not sure if it's actually vintage or made to look old...
but it's still pretty cool in my opinion.
So maybe not fitting in with my wood theme, but I found several books recently that excite me.  I began researching Artist Robert Irwin when trying to uncover the artist that made this Rabbi piece marked Irwin.  Needless to say, I was delighted to come across this book on the Getty Gardens. I also really enjoy the vintage fashions in the "How to Draw & Paint book".
Speaking of Vintage fashion...check out these amazing Prada pumps.  Perfect for a Spring Ensemble... & they'll be up in the shop this week! (Size 7 1/2)

Can't wait to see what other vintage delights were rescued this week, so you know I'll be checking out all of the links over at Selena's & Sophies!  Hope you do too :-)

It's good to be Back

I'm back...and so is my computer!
After a month of not being fixed properly, its so wonderful to have my Mac Back!!!
Now I can rejoin the thrift share parties, get my shop updated, and edit photos again.
WooHoo!
Here are some of my finds from the past few weeks...
This 1982 Arabia of Finland plate was still in the box & the design is just divine!  It'll be making it's way in the shop soon.
I did a quick search on google for Maxwell before throwing this little vase in my buggy.   I've been doing some research on Robert Maxwell, and he has some beautiful pottery...though I'm finding values all over the board.   I love the texture and pattern on this simple piece and think I'll hold onto this one for my own collection.
The abstract angles of this Dansk Designs Austria water pitcher are really fun.  I picked it up at the local Goodwill and think I'll make a great addition to the shop.
I'm so ready for spring, especially after this cold, rainy, windy weekend here in SoCal.  Nothing says spring like a fun little vintage dress!  These will all be listed really soon, though I may have to wear the little purple asian inspired beauty a few times before I decide if I can let it go.  Sooo cute!
And for the not so warm days, how amazing is this vintage leather jacket!  The leather is buttery soft and the hand drawn/painted design is really fantastic!
Not that I need anymore art books, but how could I pass up this fun vintage Assemblage one?
Last but not least, a whole heap of vintage Ephemera...for free!!!  You know what they say, one mans trash is another mans treasure.  I was at my storage unit and the owner of the complex was throwing away a bunch of stuff left in a unit.  I volunteered to take these old albums off his hands.  Theres some fun older photos, and obviously someone was a huge "Million Dollar Man" fan back in the day. Lol.

I look forward to checking out all of your finds too...so I'm happy to be linking up with Selena & Sophie again after quite a long absence.

Cheers ~ Lara

Thrift Share - October Goodies

It's been quite a while since my last Thrift Share post, but low and behold I finally got around to photoing some of my most recent finds.
The 1st week of Oct, I picked up a box full of goodies from one of my favorite local thrift shops, & the entire loot came in under $20.00.
Reed & Barton 251
The Enamel is such a beautiful blue on this silver plated bowl by Reed & Barton.
It's pretty tarnished so I guess I need to do some research to figure out the best way to clean it.
Any suggestions?

This wonderful set of Denby-Langley China also went into my box of treasures that day....
Langley Canterbury Sherwood 1970-1982
Along with these bright Danish style Trivets.

All & All I'd say it was a pretty good haul!
Then, last weekend I headed to the Rose Bowl Flea & had the pleasure of meeting up with Selena Cate from Apron Thrift Girl & Mod Sonoma along with her friend Teresa, during their whirlwind LA trip.  It was such a great morning browsing all the fun booths of the flea & chatting with such wonderful ladies!

There were plenty of bargains to be had, and we all walked away with some goodies.  My favorite find from the day was this Fiberglass luncheon tray by Cambro.
I should've taken a better pic to show scale, cause it's a pretty big.  Also, I can't find any information on decorated trays by the company, so I have to wonder if the decal was added after market...though it certainly seems like it was original to the tray.  Regardless, I think it's really sweet!

I can't wait to see what other great treasures were unearthed this week, so I'll be linking up to Selena's & Sophie's again this week!

Thrift Share - Dinnerware Delight

I've been on somewhat of a shopping drought lately. But I did come across some vintage plates that were quite a delight.
I found a total of 8 plates from the mid century Mikasa Terra Stone line.
3 Dinner Plates in color Curry Yellow
5 dinner plates in color Bronze Green
I love the simplicity and weight of the Mikasa plates, but the real find were the pair of these beautiful porcelain dinner plates...
The line is Acapulco by Villeroy & Boch.  I just adore the color & whimsy of the birds and flowers on this pattern.  Not only are they fun, but they are worth a bit of money too.  The dinner plates can go upwards of $100 each.

Im debating if I will hold onto the Mikasa plates.  They would mix nicely with my current dinnerwear...but the Villeroy & Boch plates have already made their way into my Etsy Shop.

Linking up & looking forward to seeing all of the other lovely finds this week over at Sophie's & Selena's.

Cheers ~ Lara

Thrift Share - 4 Great Scores All at 1 Store

I found all of my best finds this week at the same Thrift Store on Tuesday.  The first thing I set my eyes on was this vase.  I believe it's a piece from the Rimini Blue Line by Aldo Londi, as the pattern is so similar to the Clock that I found a few months ago.  It's stamped Italy on the bottom, but I'm a little skeptical because there are some odd (un-smooth) areas on the vase.  Not sure if thats Normal???

I then found this set of Heath Pottery plates in the same area.  I actually saw them about 2 weeks ago & left them behind since there wasn't really a full set.  But, since they were still in the store and I was already buying the vase & the fact that they were less than $5 for all of them, I decided to bring them home.

I sat all of these goodies on the counter and headed back to scope out the rest of the store, when behind a tall dresser I spotted the spokes of this clock peeking out.
It's an 8 Day Teak & Metal clock by Lux.  I posted about it over on The Thrift Collective earlier this week, but added a few more pics for my Thrift Share post.  It's in overall good condition with the exception of the back cover being broken.  Thank goodness no one usually sees the back!

Last but not least I found this framed Embroidery piece.  I actually believe this was once a small folding table.  There was still a broken swivel leg attached to the bottom, but I unscrewed the leg & think it would be nicer hanging.

I can't wait to see what everyone else found last week & will be linking up again to ATG's Thrift Share Monday, Her Library Adventures Flea Market Finds, and Costal Charms Nifty Thrifty Tuesday so be sure to check out all the other found treasures there...I know I will!

Cheers ~ Lara
