Books that Deserve a Look!

I'm in love with these vintage Plaid covered Books about Scotland.

I snagged them at a thrift store and think they make such a cute little set.

The Clans and Tartans of Scotland is really amazing as it has examples of so many beautiful Plaid Patterns.

All of the books were published in the 1930s-1950s.

There are great graphics and images in all 4 of the books...but it's the Plaid covers 

that make them extra special!

Janet Rothwoman Pitcher

I was digging around in the back of my linen closet last week when I unearthed this amazing pitcher.

I had totally forgotten all about it, and it was still wrapped in newspaper from our move to CA.

I started doing a little research online and realized the pitcher was made by 

CA pottery artist Janet Rothwoman.

 I haven't been able to fine much about her from a biography standpoint, but several examples of her work can be found on worthpoint & previous art pottery auctions.

There is beautiful hand painted detail on both the front & back of the vessel, and I truly love the shape & weight of the piece.

I hate to admit that I just stuck this beauty back into the closet...but I'm debating sharing the love with someone who may appreciate it more so you may see it listed in my Etsy shop soon.

Though I feel like I've taken an Artistic Hiatus recently, I love to create!

I guess in some ways selling Etsy has filled fulfilled my creative void with the photography & writing...

but mostly I love to paint, collage, & assemble!

Hollywood

Supposedly these amazing metal bits were used in a Hollywood studio for something to do with old film reels.  They are marked "79 Drill" & are a piece of art on their own.

 So fun!

1940s Eames Sea Things Tray by Waverly

I snagged this Vintage Tray Friday at a yard sale for only $1.00. 

 I knew it was cool when I found it...but it just got way cooler!

After doing a little research I discovered the design is by Ray Eames.

The Sea Things pattern was developed in 1947 for Waverly, and is highly collectible.

(There is even an example of the black & white pattern at LACMA!)

At an Auction in April 2010 another one of these tray sold for over $1,000.00!!!

Though I'm tempted to keep it for myself...I'll be listing it in my Etsy Shop soon!

Holy Fantastic Vintage Fabric

I recently blogged on The Thrift Collective about some the great fabric I found this past week.

I spent part of  today taking photos & measuring all of these great new materials.
There are some really neat patterns and colors!
